Climbing Wall

The outdoor climbing wall at KPCC is the largest in Hong Kong, at 18 meters high and 16 wide. In total, it offers more than 300 square meters of climbing terrain which provides over 15 climbing routes of varying degrees of difficulty. It is possible for 30 climbers to use the wall simultaneously.

We provide a safe and controlled environment where people of all ages can experience the thrill of "real" climbing. Instruction and certification are available to both members and the public.

Everybody is welcome to climb at KPCC. However, for safety reasons and without any exception, anyone wanting to climb at the KPCC outdoor wall needs to either have completed our Lead Climbing Assessment or Sports Climbing Intermediate - Lead Climbing Course . Alternatively, you can attend/arrange a Course, Fun Day or Private Tuition. General Charges.

Equipment can also be hired upon request.

Lead Climbing Assessment

If you are visiting KPCC for the first time you will be required to perform a Lead Climbing Assessment where you will be asked to put on a climbing harness correctly, tie in with a figure eight knot, belay safely, demonstrate a proper fall exercise, lead climb, clip and clear quick draws. We then carry out a brief assessment to see if we agree you can do this with a trained assessor. You can use your own equipment or we will supply what you need.

  • Cost HK$110
  • Bring 2 passport size photos
  • Upon successfully passing the Lead Climbing Assessment – you will be allowed to climb unsupervised at our KPCC outdoor wall by either purchasing a daily or monthly pass.
  • Please make an appointment in advance by calling KPCC on 27826682 / 27103914 or email samy@ymcahk.org.hk .

Courses

If you are visiting KPCC for the first time and have never climbed before, you can enroll in our Sports Climbing Elementary – Top Roping course . In this course you will learn about the figure 8 knot, belay device use, fundamental climbing techniques and safety procedures. Upon completing this course you can then enroll in our Climbing Technique Improvement Class – Top Roping or Sports Climbing Intermediate - Lead Climbing Course .

Upon successfully completing the Sports Climbing Intermediate - Lead Climbing Course – you will be allowed to climb unsupervised at our KPCC outdoor wall by either purchasing a daily or monthly pass. Please click here to see our latest brochure of Quarterly Courses.
